Earrings Linear Realm

The earrings take its shape from a vertical passage through three fixed points, drawn from the legend of Dwarka, the city built by Krishna off India's western coast, said to have sunk beneath the Arabian Sea the moment he left the earth, its golden gates and palaces still believed to lie submerged, glimpsed only by those who look closely enough through the water. In Smoky Quartz and Garnet, the upper and lower rectangles hold the passage down through darkening water toward that lost city, hazy grey giving way to a deep red glow said to still burn somewhere in its sunken halls, while the textured square at the centre, set with a round cabochon, marks the surface itself, the last point of light before the descent begins. Serpentine and Green Amethyst carry the same descent in cooler tones, water read as green shadow deepening toward violet dark. Linear Realm holds that same straight line down through water, worn close to the body, tracing the exact path once believed to lead toward a city still standing, gold and whole, somewhere beneath the sea.
